Husker Volleyball in Brazil - University of Nebraska


The Nebraska volleyball team will spend 17 days in Brazil from May 29-June 14. NCAA programs are allowed to take foreign trips once every four years, and this is Nebraska volleyball’s first-ever trip to Brazil.

Below is an itinerary of the Huskers’ Brazil trip. Throughout the trip, fans can check this page on Huskers.com, @Huskervball on Twitter and HuskerVolleyball on Instagram for updates. Live video streams will be attempted for the matches in Belo Horizonte on June 1-4.

Monday, May 29

  • The Huskers will bus from Lincoln to Omaha for their flight to Brazil late Monday night. A connecting flight in Chicago will fly the Huskers through the night to Sao Paulo, Brazil.

 
Tuesday, May 30

  • The team will land in Sao Paulo on Tuesday morning and later that afternoon will take a short flight from Sao Paulo to Belo Horizonte, where they will spend the next five days.

 
Wednesday, May 31

  • The Huskers will begin the day with weight training and a practice at the Minas Tênis Clube.
  • After a tour and orientation in the afternoon, the Huskers will have another practice at night at the MTC.

 
Thursday, June 1

  • The Huskers will practice in the morning and then have lunch and prepare for their first tournament match of the trip, which will begin at 2:30 p.m. (CT) against Minas Tênis Clube. Minas was the runner-up in the Brazilian Volleyball Super League in 2022-23, and the club is five-time league champions of the Brazilian Super League (1993, 2002, 2019, 2021, 2022).

 
Friday, June 2

  • The Huskers will go through the same routine as Thursday, but this time will play Mackenzie at 2:30 p.m. (CT) on day two of the tournament. Mackenzie formerly played in the Brazilian Super League from 2007-2012.

 
Saturday, June 3

  • NU will take part in an outreach event with local youth in the morning and then will play 2022-23 Brazilian Super League champion Praia Clube at 4:30 p.m. (CT). Prior to winning the league title last season, Praia Clube was the league runner-up to Minas in the previous three seasons.

 
Sunday, June 4

  • On their final day in Belo Horizonte, the Huskers will continue…
