SEATTLE — Husky Beach Volleyball showed off its depth today in the final day of the opening fall tournament, as UW pairs monopolized the Gold and Silver division finals at Alki Beach.
Chloe Loreen and Teagan DeFalco took the Gold Division title over teammates Natalie Robinson and Piper Monk-Heidrich in the inaugural Alki Pairs Tournament. In the Silver Division, Scarlett Dahl and Kendall Mather outlasted Mary Sinclair and Paloma Bowman in a marathon.
After earning top seeds based on Saturday’s pool play results, the Huskies proceeded to rule over bracket play on Sunday against teams from Oregon, Boise State, Portland and Corban.
In the Gold Division, Loreen/DeFalco and Robinson/Monk-Heidrich both opened the day with wins over Corban pairs, then both earned semifinal wins over teams from Boise State, before Loreen and DeFalco took the final.
In the Silver Division, Dahl and Mather racked up four wins today to take the title. They swept a Corban pair, then won in three sets over Boise State’s Anderson/Mejia, then won their semifinal over Oregon’s Rothstein/Tyus, 21-13, 21-15. On the opposite side of the bracket, Sinclair/Bowman earned two wins without dropping a set, as did Hannah Yerex and Shannon Gormally, setting up another all-Husky match in the semis. Sinclair/Bowman earned that win to reach the final. There, Dahl and Mather won a wild 26-24 third set to wrap things up.
