SEATTLE – Colorado Volleyball was able to get its first ever win in Seattle over the 21st-ranked Husky volleyball team tonight as the Buffs pressured the Huskies from the service line and were more efficient on the attack. Colorado took the win, 25-21, 26-24, 25-20, in front of 2,565 fans at Alaska Airlines Arena.
It’s the first time the Huskies have lost in straight sets at home since the first match of the 2020-21 spring season. Washington dropped to 18-9 and 10-7 with the loss.
Senior Claire Hoffman was UW’s bright spot offensively, as she had 16 kills and hit .378 and surpassed the 1,500 career kills mark during the match, becoming just the sixth Husky hitter to reach that plateau. Hoffman also had a team-high 14 digs.
But Colorado hurt the Dawgs with eight aces and kept UW out of system on many more points. The Buffs hit .347 as a team while the Huskies finished with a .231 mark.
Another injury this week hit the Huskies, who have seen far more than their fair share, as Audra Wilmes was unavailable tonight due to an ankle sprain.
“Nothing’s easy right now,” said Head Coach Keegan Cook. “I think Colorado served and passed extremely well. We did not serve very well and obviously did not pass very well.
