Leslie Gabriel Volleyball Camp Reunion Match

SEATTLE — Washington’s longest homestand of the season, at just four matches, continues this weekend as the Dawgs look to keep building momentum hosting the Buffs and Utes. All three teams are scrapping in the middle of the Pac-12 standings and trying to solidify themselves in the upper half, making this fourth week of conference play a crucial one. Friday, Oct. 13, the Huskies host Colorado for a 7 p.m. match that will be streamed online via GoHuskies.com. Then on Sunday, Oct. 15, Utah visits for a 12 noon start time, in a Pac-12 Networks WA broadcast.

UW played well in its return home last week, taking No. 3 Stanford to a close fourth set, and then taking down Cal in another four setter. Kierstyn Barton was named Pac-12 Freshman of the Week for the first time, averaging 3.67 kills per set. Madi Endsley has strung together three great matches in a row now, as she is averaging 4.08 kills per set and hitting .366 starting with the road win at Oregon State. After going through a dry spell in the aces department, UW turned the faucet back on at home, with 7 aces against Stanford, and 9 against Cal. Grace Zilbert, getting the starting nod at libero with Lauren Bays unavailable, contributed 5 aces last week.

The Buffs are even with UW at 2-4 in conference and 10-7 overall. Colorado won its Pac-12 opener over Utah but then lost four straight to Stanford, UCLA, USC, and Oregon before getting a win over Oregon State in its last match. Colorado is hitting .262 for the year and allowing a .239 attack percentage, while in Pac-12 play CU is hitting .193. Lexi Hadrych leads the Buffs in Pac-12 matches with 2.82 kills per set and Maya Tabron adds 2.45. Taylor Simpson has run the offense with 8.32 assists per set. One of the top blockers in conference play, Skyy Howard is averaging 1.41 blocks per set.

The Utes are 3-3 in league play and 8-8 overall. They have beaten UCLA, Oregon State, and Cal in five sets, while falling to Oregon, Colorado, and USC in five sets. Utah visits WSU first on Friday before coming to…
