SEATTLE — The final month of the regular season has arrived and the Husky volleyball team will be on the road for the first half of it, starting this week with a trip to the Beaver State. But first, it’s the Ducks for the Dawgs, as 19th-ranked UW goes against 16th-ranked Oregon this Friday at 6 p.m. at Matthew Knight Arena. The match will be live stream-only. Then Sunday the Huskies will take on the Beavers in Corvallis at 2 p.m. and be back on Pac-12 Networks.

The Dawgs have battled against injury issues in recent weeks, and had to cope with a new one last week as Emoni Bush missed the Cal and Stanford matches with an ankle sprain. Shannon Crenshaw, who had been limited to the back row because of a broken finger, moved into the front row for the first time in six weeks and helped the cause. Washington (16-6, 8-4 Pac-12) was able to sweep Cal but fell just short of upsetting No. 8 Stanford, losing in five sets. 

Last weekend, Ella May Powell became the Husky career aces leader with 157, passing Sanja Tomasevic who held the record since 2005. Powell is also closing in on 6,000 career assists, a number only three Pac-12 players have reached, including UW’s Courtney Thompson, the conference record-holder at 6,552. Powell now has 5,867 assists. Senior classmate Shannon Crenshaw also passed the 1,000 career digs mark last week, the 15th Husky to do so.

UW pulled out a five set battle with Oregon in the first match-up, but the Ducks are now one game ahead of the Dawgs in the conference race with a 9-3 record as Oregon has won five in a row. The Ducks are led by Brooke Nuneviller who is fourth with 4.15 kills per set. Setter Hannah Pukis recently returned after missing several weeks, and she is fourth in the conference with 10.61 assists per set. Freshman Mimi Colyer nearly matches Nuneviller with 3.96 kills per set. The Ducks are hitting .288 on the season and .293 in conference. 

Oregon State had two close road losses last week, in four sets at Arizona and in five sets at Arizona State, so the Beavers are putting up a stiff challenge despite being 2-10 in…
