MATCHES 29-30

Illinois volleyball closes out the season with matches against #15 Minnesota and at Indiana this week. The Fighting Illini host the ranked Golden Gophers for Senior Day on Wednesday at 7 p.m. The Orange and Blue close the season at Indiana on Friday at 6 p.m. CT. Both matches can be streamed on B1G+.

 

The 2024 campaign marks the 51st season of Illinois volleyball, with the Illini holding an overall record of 1,081-630-7 (.632). Chris Tamas enters his eighth season at the helm for the Orange and Blue, boasting a 149-91 (.627) mark.

DRAFT DAY

With the 11th overall pick in the 2024 Pro Volleyball Federation draft, Illinois volleyball’s Raina Terry was selected by the Columbus, the league announced on Monday afternoon. Terry is the first player in Illinois volleyball history to be drafted in the PVF, but not the first Illini alum to play in the league. Ali Bastianelli played for San Diego Mojo in 2024.

Terry was not the only player drafted this season as Christina Martinez Mundo was selected in the Voleibol Superior Femenino League.

LAST TIME OUT

The Fighting Illini fell in four sets to UCLA on Saturday night. Raina Terry logged a squad-best 22 kills in the match and 10 digs for her 22nd career double-double. Laynie Smith reached double figures for the 11th time in her career, posting 12 kills for the Illini. Setter Brooke…
