Incoming Panthers Named to USA Volleyball U19 Training Roster

PITTSBURGH – Two members of the Pitt Volleyball incoming freshman class have been named to the 2023 USA Volleyball U19 training team, USA Volleyball announced today. Olivia Babcock and Blaire Bayless will train with 18 other invitees from April 30-May 6 at the Anaheim National Team Training Center.

Babcock and Bayless will be working to be named to the final 12 player roster that will compete at the 2023 Girls U19 NORCECA Pan American Cup on May 7-15 in Ciudad de Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico.

Babcock and Bayless join fellow incoming freshman Torrey Stafford as the only three Panthers to be named to the U19 National Team training roster. Stafford competed last summer on the gold medal winning USA team at the 2022 U19 Pan American Cup, in Tulsa. Babcock was an alternate on that team, with hopes of earning a role on the main roster this season.

Earlier this year, Stafford and Babcock were named MVPs of their teams in the 2023 Under Armour All-American game, with Stafford earning match MVP honors.

This is the latest in a string of accolades for the incoming class, rated as high as 5th in the nation, according to prepdig.com, the highest rated class in Pitt Volleyball history. For more information on the incoming freshman class, click here.
