This is our weekly update on USA women playing professional volleyball around the world. Most of the players are former NCAA standouts:
Italy
Simone Lee and Casalmaggiore (9-15) had a great week, starting with its biggest win of the season, a five-set upset of Milano.
Lee led with 20 kills and a block and setter Micha Hancock was named MVP after having six kills, two blocks and an ace. Milano’s Dana Rettke had four kills and a block for Milano.
Casalmaggiore then beat Pinerolo (11-13) in four sets as Lee had 11 kills, two aces and a block and Hancock had two kills, an ace and a block.
Cuneo, trying to avoid relegation, got a big win by beating Roma in five sets. Anna Stevenson-Hall came off the bench to spark a key service run in the fifth set and finished with three kills on four swings. Madi Kubik had three kills.
But then Cuneo (7-17) was swept by Milano (20-4), which got eight kills from Rettke and two from sub Kara Bajema. Stevenson-Hall had one kill and a block and Kubik had four kills as a substitute.
Conegliano (24-0) swept rival Novara and Kelsey Robinson Cook was second top scorer with 14 kills (.462) and an ace. Kathryn Plummer had seven kills and one block.
Then Conegliano beat Vallefoglia (11-13) in four sets as Khalia Lanier had seven kills and setter Madi Bugg had a kill and an ace.
Scandicci swept Pinerolo as Lindsey Ruddins had 11 kills (.409) and three aces Teammate Haleigh Washington added five kills in as many attacks, two blocks and an ace.
Firenze (10-14) was swept by Vallefogliabut then broke its six-match losing streak by sweeping Chieri (13-11). Kendall Kipp led Firenze with 13 kills (.571) and two blocks. Madi Kingdon Rushel had nine kills for Chieri. Avery Skinner did not play. Earlier in the week, she had 14 kills and hit .583 in Chieri’s sweep of Buso Arsizio.
Türkiye
Logan Eggleston had 52 kills in two matches.
But first, Stephanie Samedy and Micaya White had a huge week. Samedy had 30 kills to lead Muratpasa past Karayollari in five sets and added two aces and a block. Micaya White had a match-high eight aces to go along with 12 kills and a block.
Muratpasa then lost to Besiktas (9-16) in four sets but Samedy and White were both the top scorers with 21 points each Samedy had 20 kills and an ace and White had 19 kills and two blocks.
Eggleston went off for 34 kills as Galatasaray (13-12) beat Besiktas in five sets. Eggleston…
