Jordan Wilson and Avery Scoggins Earn Big 12 Weekly Awards

IRVING, Texas – Arizona Volleyball’s Jordan Wilson and Avery Scoggins earned Big 12 weekly honors, announced by the conference on Tuesday. Wilson was named the Offensive Player of the Week and Scoggins picked up her fourth Rookie of the Week honor. Wilson and Scoggins are the first duo from the same team in the conference to earn weekly honors in the same week this season.

Wilson earned her first conference weekly honor after leading Arizona with 48 kills, 6.00 kills/set, and a .324 hitting percentage last week. The junior from Gilbert, Arizona carried Arizona to a five-set upset of then-No. 8 Kansas with a career high 37 kills, a season high .465 hitting percentage, and 12 digs. Wilson’s 37 kills surpassed her previous career high by 15 kills and is tied for third all-time for kills in a single match in Arizona Volleyball history. She is also tied for second most kills in a five-set match in the NCAA this season. Additionally, Wilson notched her ninth double-double of the season with 37 kills and 12 digs and is currently on a streak of eight matches with 10 or more kills.

Scoggins became Arizona’s first four-time conference rookie of the week after leading the Wildcats to a five-set upset over then-No. 8 Kansas with 61 assists. The freshman from New Bern, North Carolina totaled 88 assists and averaged 11.00 assists/set against Kansas State and Kansas. Scoggins recorded her ninth double-double this season with 61 assists and a career high 20 digs against Kansas. She became the first Wildcat since Julia Patterson in 2018 to record 60 or more assists in a match.

The duo is Arizona’s second pair to win conference player of the week and freshman/rookie of the week honors in the same week in program history. Madi Kingdon and Penina Snuka are Arizona’s only other pair to win conference offensive and freshman of the week, doing so twice in 2013.

Wilson and Scoggins will lead Arizona on a road trip to Cincinnati on Thursday, November 14 and West Virginia on Sunday, November 17.
