BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – For the sixth week in a row, Tennessee’s Caroline Kerr was recognized by the league for her performances, earning SEC Co-Setter of the Week honors on Monday afternoon.
Kerr, a redshirt-freshman setter from Champaign, Ill., averaged 12.33 assists, 2.17 digs, 1.58 points and 1.17 kills per set—all of which were higher than her seasonal averages—while hitting .500 for the week in sweeps over Alabama and LSU. She ranked third in the conference for the week in assists per set.
Against the Crimson Tide, she posted an all-around performance with 35 assists, eight digs, three kills and two blocks. She followed that up with 39 assists, five digs, four kills and an ace against the Tigers. With Tennessee’s victory against LSU, the Lady Vols are currently on a 10-match winning streak and have swept 12 foes this year.
Monday’s award marked Kerr’s seventh honor of the season by the conference, matching teammate Morgahn Fingall’s program record from 2022 (4x SEC OPOTW, 3x SEC POTW). In addition to being named the SEC Player of the Week once, she’s a four-time SEC Freshman of the Week honoree and two-time SEC Setter of the Week recipient. Excluding player of the week since it didn’t exist from 2003-15, Kerr boasts the most SEC weekly honors in Tennessee history for a single season with six.
For the season, Kerr ranks fourth nationally and second in the league in assists per set 11.43. She’s be a key factor in No. 12 Tennessee’s success this season, helping guide the Lady Vols’ elite offense. UT is the NCAA leader in kills per set with 14.89, and the Big Orange ranks third in the country in assists per set (13.64) as well as hitting percentage (.318)—both of which lead the SEC.
Up next, Tennessee continues its homestretch with a pair of top-25 matches at Food City Center next weekend. The Lady Vols kick things off Friday against No. 25 Auburn at 6:30 p.m. UT then hosts the No. 22 Kentucky Wildcats on Sunday for a 5 p.m. first serve. Tickets are available for both contests at AllVols.com.
