Kerr, Moore Receive SEC Weekly Honors

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – Spearheading eighth-ranked Tennessee’s impressive offensive display during a 2-0 weekend, Caroline Kerr and Jenaisya Moore received SEC weekly honors, the league office announced Monday.

Kerr earned SEC Player of the Week and SEC Freshman of the Week recognition, while Moore was tabbed SEC Co-Offensive Player of the Week. As a team, UT’s had five different players win a combined 20 SEC weekly honors this season. The Lady Vols (21-3, 12-2 SEC) boast one of the NCAA’s top offenses, ranking inside the top 10 nationally in kills per set (2nd/14.65), assists per set (4th/13.45) and hitting percentage (7th/.299). Those marks also stand as the best in the SEC.

A redshirt freshman setter from Champaign, Ill., Kerr ranked second among SEC setters in assists per set (13.57) for the week, as she helped fuel Tennessee’s offense to wins against Georgia and Ole Miss. She finished with 95 assists, 15 digs, two aces and two blocks on the week.

Kerr opened the weekend with her fourth 50-assist performance of the season, tallying 54 assists, nine digs and one blocks against the Bulldogs. She followed that up with 41 assists, six digs and a pair of aces in a sweep against the Rebels. During that match, she helped the Lady Vols finish with a season-best .462 hitting percentage and 16.3 kills per set.

With her pair of honors Monday, Kerr has now received 10 total conference awards this season. She’s earned SEC Freshman of the Week six times—the most ever by a Lady Vol—and has twice been named SEC Player of the Week and SEC Setter of the Week. Thanks to her performance, she moved up to fourth nationally and second in the conference in assists per set for the year with 11.51.

Moore, a graduate student outside hitter from Germantown, Md., enjoyed one of the best offensive showings of her career this weekend, finishing with 33 kills on .526 hitting and recording just three errors on 57 attacks. Her 4.71 kills per set ranked fourth in the conference for the week, while she was third in hitting percentage.

Moore opened the weekend with 20 kills on .474 hitting, four digs and three blocks against the Bulldogs. It was her second straight 20-kill performance. She followed that up with 13 kills on an impressive .632 hitting and four digs to help UT sweep Ole Miss. For the year, Moore ranks seventh in the SEC and 95th nationally in kills per set at 3.57.
