Krista Hendrickson Named Assistant Coach for USA Volleyball

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – USA Volleyball proudly announced the roster for the 2023 Girls U19 NORCECA Pan American Cup on Tuesday. Fighting Illini volleyball’s Krista Hendrickson was named an assistant coach for the event.

The organization announced 20 athletes had been selected and will be whittled down to a 12-person roster for the event taking place on May 7-15 in Ciudad de Juana Diaz, Puerto Rico. Minnesota women’s volleyball head coach Keegan Cook has been selected as the U19 team’s leader. Hendrickson joins UNLV’s Cursty Le Roux as an assistant for the squad.

Hendrickson is no stranger to Cook’s tutelage, having played for Cook when he was an assistant with Washington’s program. The former Krista Vansant left UW as the most decorated volleyball player ever to wear the purple and gold. In 2013, she became the first Husky to claim the American Volleyball Coaches Association National Player of the Year award, while also earning ESPNW National Player of the Year recognition as a senior in 2014.

Hendrickson has a storied history with coaching for USA Volleyball. She was selected as an assistant coach with the USA Volleyball Collegiate National Team Japan Tour in the summer of 2019 and was also named to the U.S. Women’s Junior National Team Coaching Staff for the summer of 2020.

The 2023 Girls U19 Pan American Cup was a late addition to the NORCECA calendar and USA Volleyball looks forward to participating in both the Pan Am Cup and the 2023 FIVB Girls U19 World Championship.

The roster for the 2023 FIVB Girls U19 World Championship (Aug. 1-11 in Croatia and Hungary) will be determined later this year.
