Nakhon Ratchasima, Thailand, September 23, 2024 – Kazakhstan’s Kuanysh VC endured the gallant efforts of home team Nakhon Ratchasima QminC VC by taking the decider 3-2 (25-8, 26-24,12-25, 22-25, 15-13) in Pool A of the 2024 Asian Women’s Club Volleyball Championship at the Chartchai Hall.
Sana Anarkulova posted a stellar performance, playing consistently through all five sets, with a total of 28 points.
“We all gave our maximum effort in this important match, so we could have a good chance to be at the top of the group. We want to have a good position and momentum going into the quarterfinals,” Anarkulova said.
Onuma Sittirak, likewise gave her maximum effort, 31 points to be exact, in the hosts’ defeat on Monday evening.
Kuanysh VC exerted every effort in ensuring they start strong: they served strategically, they set up good attacks, and they lined their blocks well. When transitions came, they could also play their backcourt decently and convert as they recycled the offense.
Anarkulova dazzled from the flank, while Polina Ufimtseva took care of the middle game.
The hosts resorted to multiple player changes in order to find the best combination on the floor. When they entered the court during the second set, they possessed a renewed energy and mounted a sizeable lead. Onuma and Katarina Pilepic took turns in attack.
The Kazakh club slowly worked their way through each sideout. Anarkulova backed up in the crucial plays, executing clean passes and successful attacks for a comeback in the second set.
The narrative was reversed in the next set, as Nakhon Ratchasima QminC VC amassed a huge advantage and a much-needed morale boost. Sasipapron Janthasiwut provided much scoring support for the Thai club’s successful run in the third set.
The home team carried their momentum in the fourth set, slightly getting ahead of the competition. They seemed to have mastered their opponents’ patterns, blocking or digging where needed.
Kuanysh VC played catch-up, exerting utmost effort to take the set and the match, but crucial plays closed out toward the hosts’ favor to force the decider.
Teams battled for each point without gaining or giving a stable advantage to the other. Yulia Dymar’s heroics in the closing plays helped seal the victory for the Kazakh club.
