SAN FRANCISCO — Colorado women’s volleyball redshirt junior Alexia Kuehl was named the Pac-12 Defensive Player Of The Week, the conference announced Monday.
Kuehl helped lead the Buffs to a 3-0 start, winning the Buffs Invitational in the process. She had a Pac-12 leading 22 blocks in the tournament, averaging 1.83 blocks per set. She also added 23 kills with a .340 hitting percentage, leading to her first-ever double-double against Denver with 11 kills and 10 blocks.
This is Kuehl’s first-ever Pac-12 weekly honor. She is just the second Buff to ever earn a conference Player Of the Week honor during the first week of the season, joining Leah Clayton from last year’s season opener.
Kuehl was named to the Buffs Invitational All-Tournament team along with MVP Meegan Hart and Taylor Simpson. The three will look to keep their undefeated record this weekend against No.19 Illinois and Iowa in the Pac-12/BIG TEN Challenge.
Oregon took the other two honors with Brooke Nuneviller being named the Pac-12 Offensive Player of the Week while Mimi Colyer was named the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week.
