SAN FRANCISCO — Colorado women’s volleyball redshirt junior Alexia Kuehl was named the Pac-12 Defensive Player Of The Week for the second week in a row, the conference announced Monday.
Kuehl averaged two blocks per set this weekend as the Buffs improved to 5-0 for the fifth time in CU history. She had nine kills without an error in the sweep over No.19-ranked Illinois, hitting .563 with five blocks. She then was a member of all seven of the team’s blocks against Iowa.
The 6-7 middle leads the conference with 1.89 blocks per set, good for second in the NCAA. She is a major reason the Buffs are second in the NCAA with 3.3 blocks per set.
Kuehl is the first Buffalo in CU history to earn back-to-back conference defensive player of the week honors and the first in the conference since 2019. Kuehl joins Henz, Tami Alade, Cassie Strickland and Inky Ajanaku as the only athletes in Pac-12 history to earn the defensive honor in consecutive weeks.
Utah’s Madelyn Robinson took home the Offensive Player of the Week while Mimi Colyer of Oregon repeated as the Pac-12 Freshman of the Week.
