LEXINGTON, Ky. – Tennessee’s Nina Cajic, Keondreya Granberry and Caroline Kerr were recognized for their play this season by being tabbed to the AVCA South All-Region Team, the organization announced Tuesday morning.
For her lone campaign on Rocky Top, Cajic broke the Tennessee single-match record and SEC modern era record for kills (42), 25-point rally-scoring era record for aces in a match (7) and set the modern era record for aces per set (0.39) in a single season. The All-SEC First Team selection was the first Lady Vol during the 25-point rally-scoring era to post 30 kills in a match, and she did so twice. Her final numbers for the year were 513 points, 448 kills, 204 digs, 42 blocks, 41 aces and 19 assists.
One of the top offensive players in the country, Cajic ranked 29th nationally and seventh in the SEC in points per set at 4.93 and was 37th and eighth in kills per set (4.31). The Subotica, Serbia, native posted double-digit kills in 25 matches, including five performances with at least 20 kills, two with 30-plus kills and one 40-kill effort. She also added six double-doubles.
For the second year in a row, Kerr earned All-Region recognition from the AVCA. The All-SEC Second Team honoree finished with 1,069 assists—her second year in a row eclipsing 1,000—to mark the eighth most for a single year during the UT 25-point rally-scoring era, while her 10.28 assists per set ranked sixth.
The Champaign, Ill., native ranked sixth in the SEC and 34th nationally in assists per set. She helped the Lady Vol offense average 13.22 kills per set while hitting .277, which ranks 16th nationally and fourth in the SEC. Kerr eclipsed 40 assists in a match 12 times and 50 assists four times. She posted a career-high 57 assists on two occasions, including the four-set victory against Western Michigan during Cajic’s historic performance.
Rounding things out, Granberry enjoyed her best all-around season yet on Rocky Top. Known for her blocking ability, she also expanded her offensive game this year as well. The junior middle blocker ranks second nationally and leads the SEC with a .455 hitting percentage. With a new single-season best 189 kills, she recorded a kill on 56% of her swings this year. She finished with seven double-digit kill efforts.
