Lewis Men’s Volleyball Falls To Ball State on Senior Night

ROMEOVILLE, Ill. – The Lewis University men’s volleyball team fell to Ball State 3-2 in its final home game of the season on Saturday evening (April 1).

SET BREAKDOWN
FIRST SET: Ball State 25, Lewis 22

  • The first set began with Ball State taking a narrow 5-4 lead in the early moments of the contest.
  • Lewis answered back with three straight points to take the lead, including two kills with Brillhart.
  • Both teams went began to trade points and find themselves tied at 18.
  • Ball State scored three straight to take a 21-18 lead that they would inevitably hold onto to close out the first set.
  • On two separate occasions, Brillhart had a kill to cut the lead down to two, but the Flyers could not recover.

SECOND SET: Ball State 25, Lewis 19

  • Both teams began the second set trading blows and were tied at nine before Ball State managed to score three straight and take a 12-9 lead.
  • Ball State held the lead for the remainder of the set and expanded its lead to as large as six.
