UNIVERSITY PARK, Penn. — The No. 16 Lewis men’s volleyball started its season on a high note as the Flyers defeated Central State in three straight sets in convincing fashion. Lewis recorded a .536 attack percentage for the match.

SET BREAKDOWN
Set 1: Lewis 25, Central State 10
Lewis jumped out to an early 3-1 lead after a kill from Prayer. Central State would respond with four straight points to give the Marauders a 5-3 advantage.
The Flyers bounced back and scored three straight points to make it 6-5. CS scored the next two points but that would be the last time they would lead.
Lewis outscored Central State 19-3 the rest of the first set. The Flyers recorded a .458 attack percentage in the set after recording 13 kills on 24 total attempts.
Set 2: Lewis 25, Central State 5
Lewis jumped out to a 4-0 lead including three service aces by Prayer. Central State recorded the next point before Lewis scored three straight which was capped off by an ace from Max Roquet (Johnston, Iowa/Johnston).
The Marauders scored the ensuing point before Lewis rallied off 10 straight points to make it 17-2 after a block by Morgan, Haber and Sack.
Lewis recorded an .800 attack percentage for the set.
Set 3: Lewis 25, Central State 15
Central State started the set by recording the first point. Lewis responded with three straight including kills from Syver Drolsum (Vikersund, Norway/Toppvolley Norge) and John Davis (Naperville, Ill./Naperville Central).
CS tried to get back in the set but Antonio Elias (Naranjito, Puerto Rico/Colegio Sagrada Familia) recorded an ace. Lewis was able to record five straight points including kills from Nathan DeGraaf (Cranberry Township, Penn./Seneca Valley HS) and an ace from Tyler Simpson (Bethel Park, Pa./Bethel Park).
The Flyers had an .500 attack percentage for the winning set.

Lewis will be back in action Saturday, January 6 as the Flyers take on No. 6 Penn State at 5 p.m. CT. Time is scheduled to change due to the incoming weather to the area.
