LEBANON, Ill. — Coming off of a conference loss against UMSL, the Flyers responded with a three set sweep against the McKendee Bearcats Saturday (Oct. 12).

SET BREAKDOWN vs. McKendree
Set 1: Lewis 26, McKendree 24
Saturday’s match began with McKendree in the driver seat for the first few point. Lewis did not score a point of their own until the score was tied at four, when a service ace by Alvey gave Lewis the 5-4 lead. Both teams went back and forth during the first set trading two point runs back and forth.
With the set at gridlock, the Flyers put up a three set run in which the Bearcats responded with their own three point run to give Mckdree a one point lead at 24-23. Facing a set defeat, Lewis pulled together three straight point to finish the set. Two attack errors and a kill by Stefanski gave Lewis the push they needed to take set one.
Set 2: Lewis 25, McKendree 16
Mallory Januski (Bourbonnais, Ill./Valparaiso) lead the Flyers with a kill to start set number two. The Bearcats responded with a three point run which put Lewis behind early but a four point run from the Flyers off of four errors by McKendree put Lewis back on top.
After a McKendree kill, Lewis went on a eight point run to put a large margin between the two teams. Three attacking errors, three kills by Stefanski and a block by Ray and Mya Bajramovic (Cary, Ill./West Virginia Wesleyan) rounded out the massive run by the Flyers. Both teams traded runs of two and three for the remainder of the set, but the eight point run gave Lewis all they need to ease into a set number two victory.
Set 3: Lewis 25, McKendree 19
Another close set between the two teams as the Flyers and Bearcats traded short runs. The first big run of the set came from Lewis with a five point rally thanks to two kills from ray, a kill from Bajramovic and Stefanski and an error from McKendree. The Bearcats fought hard and continued to work their way back into the match.
