PENSACOLA, Fla. — The Lewis University women’s volleyball team swept Charleston before falling to host West Florida at the Walk On’s UWF Invitational Saturday.

Set 1: Lewis 25, UC 10
Lewis took advantage of six early attack errors by Charleston to take an 8-1 lead in the opening set and never looked back. The Flyers later used a 6-1 run to push the advantage to 16-4.
The Golden Eagles responded with a 3-0 run, but Lewis again took off from there. Back-to-back aces by O’Neill set the Flyers up to secure the set on an attack error by UC.
Set 2: Lewis 25, UC 19
After Lewis opened the set with three straight kills, the Golden Eagles swung back with an 8-1 push to take the lead. However, the Flyers took seven consecutive points to capture a 12-9 advantage.
Lewis rattled off five kills in a row, four by Schlechte, to make it 18-11. Both teams had a brief surge, and traded points late in the set after the score had reached 22-16, Flyers. Stenman had a kill to complete the set win.
Set 3: Lewis 25, UC 15
Charleston opened set 3 with a 3-1 run, but Lewis wouldn’t stay behind for long. A 4-0 run put the Flyers ahead, 6-4.
Lewis later used a 5-0 surge to make it 12-7, followed shortly after by a 7-1 outburst that pushed the lead to 20-10. A kill by Juliana Van Loo (Burbank, Calif./John Burroughs) secured the match win and sweep for the Flyers.

Then, Lewis got hot with a 6-1 run to trim the deficit to just one point. The Flyers took their first lead with another 6-1 push that made it 21-19.
