Li Earns Fifth Pac-12 Freshman Of The Week Nod

Maggie Li has consistently ranked among the nation’s top freshmen this season in both kills and points.

Tied For Third-Most Rookie Honors In Conference History

California’s Maggie Li was named the Pac-12 Volleyball Freshman of the Week for the fifth time this season after helping the Golden Bears to their first sweep of a Pac-12 team since 2019 and leading the team in kills in both matches played.

Li’s five weekly honors are tied for the third-most in conference history. She notched 10 kills in the Bears’ sweep of Arizona on Sunday and tallied 17 total kills along with eight digs across the two contests.

Li is the top freshman in the Pac-12 this season with 337 kills, 4.01 kills per set, 377.5 points and 4.49 points per set. All four marks put her among the top-five overall players in the conference and top-50 in Division I, with the first three ranking second-best among all Division I freshmen. In addition to her team lead in kills, she also has the second-most digs (207) and third-most service aces (27) on the squad and has recorded eight double-doubles.

“Maggie is always making everyone laugh and does everything she can to support her teammates,” interim head coach Crissy Jones Schoonderwoerd said. “She brings a really fresh and bright personality to our group and is playing a big role on our team while learning as much as she can from the athletes around her.”

Li and the Bears (15-8, 4-8 Pac-12) will be back at Haas Pavilion this weekend, hosting Washington (13-10, 4-8) on Friday at 7 p.m. PT and No. 9 Washington State (18-5, 8-4) on Sunday at noon.
