BOULDER – Freshman Lily Dwinell earned Pac-12 Freshman of the Week honors for the last week of Pac-12 conference play. It marked as the only Pac-12 award the Buffs have earned this season.
Dwinell is the first Buff to be awarded Pac-12 Freshman of the Week since Jill Schneggenburger got the nod in September 2019. It is also the ninth time Colorado has had a Volleyball Freshman of the Week.
The outside hitter from San Clemente, Calif. posted 22 kills with a .364 hitting percentage and two blocks against California and Utah over the weekend to close out the season after CU did not earn a bid to the tournament on Selection Sunday.
The team finished the year 16-15 overall with a 8-12 conference record, their last season in the Pac-12 before joining the Big-12 next year. The top five teams in the conference standings all earned a bid to the tournament: Stanford, Oregon, Arizona State, Washington State, USC.
Colorado finished seventh with eight wins, while UCLA finished one spot higher, breaking even at 10-10 in conference play.
Dwinell logged 188 total kills on a .229 hitting percentage across her freshman year along with 83 total blocks. Her 13-kill performance was just the third time all season she had double-digit kills in a match.
