CRESTVIEW HILLS, Ky. – At the Connor Convocation Center, the Lindsey Wilson volleyball team continued its outstanding play with a second consecutive sweep over the Saints of Thomas More University.

The three-set decision is the Blue Raiders’ third in-a-row all-time and seventh overall against the Saints, and it hands their in-state foe their first conference defeat of the season after having won their previous seven.

As a team, the visitor’s attack percentage increased steadily throughout the match from a mark of 0.229 in the first set to 0.351 in the third frame. All told, Lindsey Wilson finished at 27 percent behind 45 kills, while Thomas More closed just over 10 percent with 18 total hitting errors.

Individually, the duo of Alexis Smith and Alix Stoermer paced the local’s offense with 16 and 10 kills, respectively, as the latter of the two became the 29th different player in program history to record 500-career successful attacks.

Lindsey Wilson came out of the gate strong with a 7-3 run to get the ball rolling. Stoermer, Smith, Madison Bidwell, and Aleksandra Wyrzkowska each had kills during the span to help set the tone. Thomas More tried to hang around from there on, but ten total errors in the first set proved costly as the Blue Raiders took the game, 25-20.

In the middle set, the locals never trailed despite a back-and-forth start. With the score eventually knotted at 10-10, Lindsey Wilson finally got the boost it needed to start pulling away. Over a subsequent 8-3 stretch, Wyrzkowska, Smith, and Stoermer combined for six kills. However, that did not fade the Saints from contention easily. Later,…
