COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Big Ten announced its weekly women’s volleyball awards on Monday. Junior opposite Emily Londot was named Big Ten Co-Player of the Week for the second-consecutive week, while senior setter Mac Podraza was named Big Ten Setter of the Week after the Buckeyes swept No. 10 BYU and beat No. 5 Georgia Tech in four sets at the GT Classic last weekend.
Londot earned a spot on the all-tournament team and the title of ‘most valuable player’ at the Georgia Tech Classic. In two matches this past weekend, Londot posted two double-doubles, averaging 3.5 kills, 3.14 digs and 0.86 blocks per set, continuing her streak of recording at least 10 kills in every match so far this season. In the sweep against No. 10 BYU, Londot tied her season-high 12 digs and totaled 13 kills – also adding four blocks and an ace. At No. 5 Georgia Tech, Londot registered 12 kills and 10 digs, adding two blocks. This season, Londot leads the Buckeyes with 4.14 kills per set and is second with 2.62 digs per set (only trailing the libero).
Podraza had another standout weekend at the Georgia Tech Classic in two top-10 wins. Podraza averaged 11.83 assists per set in the two wins and was third on the team with 2.86 digs per set. Against No. 5 Georgia Tech, she earned her first double-double of the season with 39 assists and a season-high 11 digs, also totaling her 2,900th career assist as she sits ninth on the program’s all-time list. In the sweep of BYU, Podraza was one dig shy of a double-double as she finished with 41 assists and nine digs. This season, she’s averaging 10.67 assists and 2.00 digs per set.
