Pullman, Wash. (November 11, 2024) – Washington State Volleyball middle blocker Lucie Blažková was named the WCC Defensive Player of the Week Monday morning.
Blažková led the WCC this week with 11 total blocks, including four solo blocks to help the Cougs go 2-0 with wins over Pacific and Saint Mary’s. She averaged 1.57 blocks per set, and with seven digs, 1.00 digs per set. She also added 20 kills on a .459 hitting percentage for a total of 30.5 points, and averaged 2.86 kills and 4.36 points per set.
This is the second weekly WCC award for Blažková this season, after having also been named Freshman of the Week on October 14. It is also the second Defensive Player of the Week honor for the Cougars this season with Emma Barbero bringing home the honor on September 2.
The Cougars play at Gonzaga on Wednesday, November 13 at 6 p.m. before heading off to play at Portland on Saturday, Nov. 16 at 1 p.m. Both games will be broadcast live on ESPN+.
