Illinois volleyball gets set for a pair of Big Ten matches this weekend. The Fighting Illini travel to Ohio State for a Big Ten match against the Buckeyes on Friday night at 6 p.m. CT. Following the match, the team hosts Rutgers at Huff Hall on Sunday at 1 p.m. CT. Both matches will be streamed on B1G+.
The 2023 campaign marks the 50th season of Illinois volleyball, with the Illini holding an overall record of 1,057-619-7 (.628). Chris Tamas enters his seventh season at the helm for the Orange and Blue, boasting a 122-76 (.616) mark.

LAST TIME OUT
The Fighting Illini fell to top-ranked Wisconsin on Saturday night in a stuffed Huff Hall. Raina Terry led the way once again offensively, tallying a team-high 15 kills, her third consecutive outing in double figures. Terry also registered eight digs and one ace, moving her to 139 career aces, which ranks eighth all-time in program history. Caroline Barnes tallied her fifth double-digit dig performance of the season with a team-high total of 12. Cari Bohm once again brought physicality at the net, leading the Illini with four total blocks, her 10th outing this season with at least four roofs.
ILLINOIS VS. THE FIELD
The series between the Buckeyes and Fighting Illini is locked in a 45-45 tie. However, Illinois has dropped the last four meetings, with Ohio State sweeping the Orange and Blue during the last two battles. During his time at the helm for the Illini, head coach Chris Tamas owns a 5-4 mark against Ohio State.
Illinois holds the 14-1 advantage in the series with the Scarlet Knights, having won 14 straight matches. When hosting Rutgers, Illinois is undefeated in matches and in sets, having swept the team on six separate occasions. During his tenure, Tamas is 7-0 against Rutgers.
ILLINI IN THE RANKINGS
Terry is currently ranked in the top-10 nationally in several categories. The senior outside hitter comes into the week third nationally in attacks per set (13.02) and ninth for points per set (5.25). Terry’s 4.62 kills per set is seventh nationally and first in the conference, while her 267 total kills also rank first in the league and also 13th nationally. Her 794 total attacks…
