HARRISONBURG, Va. – The Continental Volleyball Conference announced their postseason awards on Wednesday and Royals senior Nate McGhee was named Third-Team All-CVC.
The outside hitter from Newport News, Va. becomes the first Royals to make the All-CVC team since Jacob Durren was named second-team in 2020.
McGhee finished the 2023 season as the team leader in kills with 279 and k/s with 3.07. Those numbers put him at fifth and sixth in the CVC, respectively. He also finished second on the team with 167 digs, which was seventh in the conference, and he also led the team in service aces with 28. He wrapped up the season fourth in the CVC in total points with 324.5, and fifth in points/set with 3.6.
In the Royals 25 matches, he had double-digit kills in 17 of them, including a season-high 21 in a 3-1 win over Elizabethtown on March 25.
EMU finished the season 11-14, 2-6 in the CVC and just narrowly missed out on making the CVC tournament. The Royals will return the majority of its roster for the 2024 season, including McGhee, who is opting to return for his fifth year.
