IMMACULATA, Pa.- The Immaculata men’s volleyball team dropped a five-set heartbreaker to Hood College on Tuesday evening. The set scores were 25-20, 25-12, 21-25, 23-25, and 13-15. The Macs record on the season now stands at 4-8.
Set one found the Macs up early 5-1 behind three straight service points from John Bohrer. Brandon Fox later served three straight points as Immaculata took the first set 25-20.
In set two Joe Martell served four straight points as Immaculata took an early 6-2 lead. Jack Debes and Garrett Pepper each served three straight points to put the Macs up 18-8. Garrett Pepper finished off the set for the Macs with a kill for the 25-12 win.
In set three Hood took an early lead and had Immaculata trying to rally from behind. Immaculata managed to close the gap to two on a couple of occasions. Hood managed to not let the Macs get any closer and took set three 25-21.
In set four Immaculata jumped out to an early 4-0 lead behind the serve of Joe Martell. Immaculata was unable to hold onto the lead as the Hood ran off eight straight points and took a 11-7 lead. Immaculata rallied to tie the score at 12-12 on kills by Garrett Pepper and Joe Martell. Hood would hold on to force a fifth set winning 25-23.
In set five Hood grabbed an early 3-0 lead before Immaculata went on a 6-1 run to take a 6-4 lead. Hood would go on a 5-1 run to take a 12-10 lead. Hood would complete their comeback defeating Immaculata 15-13 in the fifth set to take the match.
