ARLINGTON, Va.- The Immaculata University men’s volleyball team dropped both matches of their tri-match with Roanoke College and host Marymount University on Saturday afternoon. Immaculata opened their afternoon falling to Roanoke 3-0 (9-25, 21-25, 21-25). In their second match, Immaculata fell to host Marymount 22-25, 21-25, and 14-25).
Roanoke 3, Immaculata 0
In their first match vs Roanoke, Immaculata was led by Brandon Lieberman with five kills, two service aces, and two digs. Jack Debes had four kills, and three blocked shots. Josh McGurl had three kills, three blocked shots, and four digs. Joe Martell distributed 14 assists, with one blocked shot and four digs. Michael Prall had two kills, one service ace, two blocked shots, and a team-high six digs. Matthew Pfister had four digs.
In set one, Roanoke built an early 8-2 lead. After Immaculata earned a side out, Roanoke responded with a 9-point run to take set tone 25-9.
In set two, the teams exchanged the lead early. Roanoke would use a five-point run to extend the lead to 15-8. Joe Martell served consecutive points as Immaculata cut the Roanoke lead to 15-11. Roanoke would hold on to take set two 25-21.
Brandon Lieberman would serve four consecutive points in the third set to tie the score at 14-14. Roanoke would use a 7-4 run to take a 21-18 lead. Roanoke would take set three 25-21 and win the match 3-0.
Marymount 3, Immaculata 0
In their second match of the day, Immaculata would play the host, the number eighteen nationally ranked Marymount University.
