WILKES-BARRE, Pa.- The Immaculata men’s volleyball team (5-10) competed in a tri-match today vs. Yeshiva University and Kings College. The Mighty Macs earned a split in their tri-match defeating Yeshiva in their first match 3-0, before dropping their second match to King’s 3-0.
In their first match, Immaculata defeated Yeshiva by scores of 25-19, 25-13, and 25-12. The Mighty Macs were led by Garrett Pepper who recorded 13 kills, three service aces, and six digs. Joe Martell added 29 assists, and Jack Debes had 11 kills. Matthew Pfister had a match-high 10 digs, and Brandon Fox contributed three service aces for the Macs.
In set one, Immaculata jumped out to an early 4-0 lead behind the serve of Joe Martell who served three straight points. Yeshiva would use a six-point run to pull back to within three points down 20-17. Immaculata would close out the set winning 25-19.
In set two, Yeshiva took an early lead, before the Macs would put together a six-point and a seven-point run to take a 16-10 lead. Immaculata would close out the set on a six-point run, winning 25-13.
In set three, Immaculata would not slow down. Immaculata ended the set on a four-point run closing out the win 25-12 on consecutive service aces by Garrett Pepper.
In their second match of the day, Immaculata was defeated by King’s by scores of 23-25, 11-25, and 12-25. Joe Martell led Immaculata with 12 assists, four kills, and a service ace.
