PITTSBURGH – After helping the Panthers reach their second consecutive NCAA National Semifinal as the volunteer assistant coach, Michael Fisher has been promoted to a full-time role on the Pitt Volleyball coaching staff as the Director of Operations, head coach Dan Fisher announced Monday.
In the new role, Michael will serve as liaison for the volleyball team to all athletic department officials, as well as visiting teams. He will control day-to-day operations for the Panthers, including coordinating travel and meals.
Michael is a two-time graduate of Saint Francis University with a bachelor’s degree in finance (2020) and an MBA (2021). The Mechanicsburg, Pa., native competed for the Red Flash men’s volleyball team for four years and garnered all-conference honors each season. A 6-foot-4 outside hitter, Michael led the Red Flash in total kills for three consecutive years (2019, 2020, 2021). He became the first in program history to earn American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-America honors twice in his career, receiving Honorable Mentions in 2019 and 2021.
In addition to his endeavors as a student-athlete, Michael was a three-year member of the SFU Investment Club and coached Red Flash camps between 2016 and 2020. Since the fall of 2021 he has served as head coach of the Yorktown 15 Blue Boys club team, and additionally served as a volunteer assistant coach at Central Daulphin High School in Harrisburg, Pa.
Dan and Michael Fisher are unrelated, despite sharing a last name.
