Mikenzie Martens Claims Fourth Straight SUNYAC Volleyball Defensive Honor


Cortland senior defensive specialist/libero Mikenzie Martens (Carthage) has been chosen as the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Women’s Volleyball Defensive Athlete of the Week for the fourth consecutive week. Her latest honor is for the week ending Oct. 13.
 
Martens averaged 5.0 digs per set during a 3-0 road weekend for the Red Dragons. She matched her career high with 31 digs in a three-set win at Clarkson on Saturday and also had nine digs in a win at Potsdam and five digs in a win at Plattsburgh.
 
Martens is averaging 5.0 digs per set and has a .959 serve reception percentage in 67 sets over 21 matches. She leads the SUNYAC in digs per set as well as total digs (337).
 
Cortland (16-5, 4-0 SUNYAC) will host SUNYAC matches this Friday at 6 p.m. versus New Paltz and Saturday at 1 p.m. against Oneonta.
