ETHAN CHAMPLIN OF UCLA

MPSF/MOLTEN OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

UCLA junior outside hitter Ethan Champlin (Oceanside, CA was the lone Bruin in double-digit kills in leading a pair of straight-set wins over CSUN and No. 7 UC Santa Barbara in the UCSB/Asics Invitational (Jan.5-7). He accumulated 22 kills on 33 swings with just two errors for a .606 percentage over his two matches. Champlin tied for the team lead in aces in both matches and finished with five. For the week, he averaged 3.67 kills/set, 0.83 aces/set and 4.83 points per set, and was named MVP of the tournament. This is the second career MPSF weekly award for Champlain, though first for offensive recognition.

JUSTIN LUI OF STANFORD

MPSF/MOLTEN DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK

Stanford redshirt-senior libero Justin Lui (Pickering, Ontario, Canada) anchored the Cardinal defense with 1.78 digs per set in a pair of wins over Saint Francis (Jan. 6-7). Lui also was perfect on serve-receive with zero reception errors in 44 total attempts. In the season opener, Lui had eight digs, including one that sailed over the net for a kill, and three assists. In the second win, he tied for a match-best with eight digs and had three assists as the Cardinal came back to defeat the Red Flash in five sets. This is the third career MPSF weekly award for Lui.
