Nalani Iosia Named First Team All-B1G

CHICAGO – Michigan State volleyball senior libero Nalani Iosia has been named First Team All-Big Ten, as announced by the conference on Tuesday afternoon. Postseason honors are voted on by the league’s head coaches.

The Big Ten leader in digs/set (4.57) and total digs (516), Iosia becomes the first libero in program history to earn first team honors and the first Spartan on the first team since 2021.

Her 4.57 digs/set were the sixth-most in a single season at MSU and her 516 digs also rank sixth. Iosia’s 34 digs against Ohio State on November 3, 2024, set the program record for digs in a four-set match and are the third-most single-match digs in program history. No other B1G libero recorded more than 30 digs in a match this past season.

Iosia earned two B1G Defensive Player of the Week honors in 2024 becoming one of just two players in program history to earn that designation twice in a season (Alyssa Garvelink, 2016). Her three career Defensive Player of the Week honors is a program record since the award’s inception in 2005.

One of just five three-time team captains in team history, Iosia etched her name in the Michigan State record book over her three seasons in the Green & White. Her 4.25 career digs/set rank third and her 1,466 total digs are tied for third-most all time.

On November 25, 2024, Iosia became the first Spartan drafted into the Pro Volleyball Federation, selected with the seventh pick of the fifth round (39th overall) by the Orlando Valkyries. Iosia is the third Spartan to go pro under head coach Leah Johnson joining Zoe Nunez and Amani McArthur.

Junior outside hitter Taylor Preston was Michigan State’s Big Ten Sportsmanship honoree. In her first season as a Spartan, Preston posted 3.24 points/set and 2.85 kills/set on .222 hitting.
