NCAA Releases APR Data for 2021-22

INDIANAPOLIS (May 2, 2023) – The NCAA released its 2021-22 Academic Progress Rate (APR) figures and six of Washington State University’s intercollegiate athletic programs posted perfect single-year APR scores, it was announced Tuesday.

“I continue to be impressed with our student-athletes ability to thrive in their sport as well as academically,” said WSU Faculty Athletics Representative Nancy Swanger. “In the ever-changing world of college athletics, they continue to excel and we are so proud of all their successes.”

The APR is an annual assessment of each team’s academic and retention history. The overall APR score is based on the most recent four years of data (2018-19, 2019-20, 2020-21 and 2021-22). Every year thereafter, the most current year’s data will be added and the oldest year of data will be removed, creating a four-year rolling rate.

For the 2021-22 academic year, women’s cross country, women’s golf, women’s tennis and women’s volleyball, along with men’s cross country and men’s golf earned perfect single-year APR scores of 1,000. Women’s cross country also recorded a multiyear (4-year) APR score of 1,000.

The WSU football team recorded a four-year average score of 961, up from 959 the previous year.

Additional four-year APR scores among the men’s sports include cross country (989), golf (979), basketball (970), track & field (966) and baseball (943).

On the women’s side, the highest four-year APR score was earned by cross country (1,000), along with volleyball (995), golf (992), basketball (985), track & field (982), swimming (978), soccer (977), tennis (975) and rowing (969).

In all, six programs improved their four-year APR scores from the previous year, while four programs recorded the same score.
