Nico Paula Awarded MIVA Defensive Player of the Week for Third Time This Season; Seventh in Career


ROMEOVILLE, Ill.  – The Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association announced Tuesday (Feb. 25) that junior libero Nico Paula (Tampa, Fla./Berkeley Preparatory School) was awarded MIVA Defensive Player of the Week for the third time in 2025 while earning the honor for the seventh time in his career. 

Paula led the Flyers to a 2-0 week in MIVA play with victories against Quincy on Feb. 21 and Purdue Fort Wayne on Feb. 22 while recording 37 total digs and 3.70 digs/set. The junior set a school record 22 digs in the win against Quincy while adding 15 in the victory with no reception errors against Purdue Fort Wayne.
