Nico Paula Named MIVA Defensive Player of the Week; Awarded Off the Block Libero of the Week


ROMEOVILLE, Ill. — The Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association announced Tuesday (Feb. 6) that sophomore Nico Paula (Tampa, Fla./Berkeley Preparatory School) was awarded MIVA Defensive Player of the Week for his efforts last weekend. Paula was also named Off the Block Blog Libero of the Week. 

Paula recorded 22 total digs in both matches for the Flyers which helped Lewis with a 3-1 victory against Lindenwood on January 31 and a 3-1 win versus McKendree on February 3. 

Paula’s 17 digs against McKendree is the highest number in a four-set match in the MIVA this season and is a career high. The sophomore currently leads the league with 77 total digs. 

Lewis returns to action Wednesday, February 7 as the No. 14 Flyers host No. 6 Ohio State starting at 7 p.m. Join us and wear black for our Black Out Game.
