Nine ACC Teams Headed to 2024 NCAA Championship

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (theACC.com) – Nine Atlantic Coast Conference volleyball teams earned spots in the 2024 NCAA Championship, as announced Sunday night on the NCAA Selection Show on ESPN, headlined by Pitt and Louisville both earning a No. 1 seed.

In the Pittsburgh quarter, ACC Champion Pitt (29-1, 19–1 ACC) will make its ninth straight NCAA Tournament appearance and play host to Morehead State (18-14) on Friday, December 6, at 7 p.m. ET. SMU will head to the NCAA Championship for the first time as an ACC member and fourth time overall, taking on Wichita State (18-13) on Thursday, December 5, at 8 p.m. ET, in Dallas, Texas. The Mustangs finished out the season 24-7 overall and 16-4 in conference play.

In the Louisville quarter, Louisville (25-5, 17-3) will make its 33rd NCAA tournament appearance. The Cardinals will host Chicago State (19-9) on Thursday, December 5, at 7 p.m. ET. A nine-time national champion, No. 2 Stanford (25-4, 17-3) will take on the national tournament for the first time as an ACC member, hosting Sacramento State (21-11) on Friday, December 6, at 10 p.m. ET, in Stanford, California. NC State will take on No. 6 Florida (21-7) on Friday, December 6, at 5 p.m. ET, in Lawrence, Kansas. The Wolfpack went 16-12 on the season and 11-9 in conference play. This is NC State’s fourth appearance in program history, and first under head coach Luka Slabe.

In the Penn State quarter, No. 7 Florida State will take on Ole Miss (17-11) on Thursday, December 5, at 5 p.m. ET, in Omaha, Nebraska. The Seminoles finished out the regular season 21-9 overall and 13-7 in conference play. This is Florida State’s 26th appearance in program history. On Friday, December 6, at 5 p.m. ET, North Carolina will face off with Yale (19-5) in University Park, Pennsylvania. The Tar Heels, who finished out the regular season ranked No. 25 with a 22-7 overall record and a 14-6 conference record, are making their 20th national tournament appearance in program history.

In the Nebraska quarter, No. 7 Georgia Tech (20-9, 12-8) will head to Madison, Wisconsin, for the first round of its fifth straight and 14th overall NCAA tournament appearance, going head-to-head with Tennessee (15-11) on Thursday, December 5, at 5:30 p.m. ET.
