No. 1 USC Beach Volleyball Tops Panthers and Frogs on Pompano Sand

POMPANO BEACH, Fla.ย โ€“ The No. 1-ranked USC beach volleyball team (16-2) knocked off No. 12 Florida International (13-3) in a 5-0 sweep and then took down No. 5 TCU (14-2) by a 4-1 count to run its win streak to 12 consecutive duals and conclude the Florida Atlantic Beach Invitational at the Pompano Beach Pier on Saturday, March 16.ย

The Trojans’ 12th straight dual win ties the seventh longest streak in program history. USC improved to 11-0 all-time against the Panthers and went to 7-1 all-time against the Horned Frogs. In 5-0 matches, the Trojans moved to 148-2 all-time and collected their 10th clean sweep of the season. USC also upped its all-time record in the Sunshine State to 23-2 and improved to 142-16 in duals when it is ranked No. 1 in the AVCA coaches’ poll.

At the top court, All-American seniorsย Megan Kraftย andย Delaynie Mapleย went 2-0 to win their 12th straight match to improve to 17-1 on the season and reached 45 all-time victories. On court two, twin graduatesย Audrey Nourseย andย Nicole Nourseย split matches with a win over their FIU counterparts but fell to the Horned Frogs in straight sets to snap a seven-match win streak. The Nourses are now 13-4.

At the No. 3 position, graduatesย Maddi Krizย andย Grace Seitsย produced a pair of wins to extend their streak to double digits at 10 in a row and improved to 13-1 on the season. Freshmanย Ashley Paterย and sophomoreย Madison Whiteย paired at the No. 4 spot and collected back-to-back straight-set wins to go to 5-0 as a pair.

On court five, graduateย Ainsley Radellย and sophomoreย Mabyn Thomasย went straight sets in two wins. In exhibition play, freshmanย Madison Goellnerย and sophomoreย Gabby Walkerย teamed up for two straight-set wins in non-dual scoring matches.

The Women of Troy will play on home sand on Tuesday (March 19) as host to Concordia and Hawai’i at Merle Norman Stadium. The Golden Eagles and the Rainbow Wahine will meet at 10 a.m. PT to open the day. The Trojans then meet CUI for a 12:30 p.m. dual before they close the three-dual day with a match-up against 13th-ranked Hawai’i at 2:30 p.m. All…
