UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – Zoe Weatherington hit .500 with 11 kills to lead No. 12 Penn State Women’s Volleyball to a 3-0 (25-9, 25-15, 27-25) sweep over Temple in a non-conference match Friday night. The Nittany Lions moved to 4-2 with their fourth-straight win, while the Owls dropped to 6-2.
Allie Holland continued to show her all-around ability as a middle blocker, hitting .316 with eight kills, five blocks, and four aces. Fellow middle Taylor Trammell hit .556 with six kills.
Camryn Hannah is just four kills from reaching 1,000 for her career after totaling 10 against Temple. Weatherington is 19 kills away from reaching the same milestone.
Penn State received a team effort on defense with Gillian Grimes leading the way with 14 digs. Cassie Kuerschen and Jess Mruzik were next with eight and seven digs, respectively.
Temple was paced by Avery Luoma, whose brother Matthew is a member of the Penn State men’s volleyball team, and Olivia Vance with six kills apiece.

Playing in front of a solid crowd of nearly 2,500 fans, Penn State came out hot with a 4-0 run that eventually ballooned to an 8-1 lead on its way to a 25-9 win in the opening set. Holland had a kill and teamed with Weatherington on a pair of blocks during the 4-0 start. She finished the set with four kills and three blocks. Hannah tallied five kills. Mruzik racked up six digs in the set, while Kuerschen tallied five.
