No. 13 Tech Gears up for No. 5 Louisville – Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

THE FLATS – No. 13 Georgia Tech volleyball (18-5, 11-3 ACC) returns home for a rematch with No. 5 Louisville (22-2, 13-1 ACC) on Friday at 7 p.m. in O’Keefe Gymnasium. The fifth top-15 matchup of the season for the Yellow Jackets will serve as Senior Night, being broadcast on ACC Network Extra.

Free parking will be available in the McCamish Pavilion lot, the East O’Keefe Gymnasium lot and the Family Housing lot.

Promotions

Friday’s match will serve as this season’s Senior Night, including a pregame ceremony celebrating each of the six seniors. In honor of Veteran’s Day, the team will be wearing alternate, military-themed uniforms. Color changing cups will be handed out before the match while supplies last, and a JBL Mini Speaker will be raffled off.

Tickets

Although general admission tickets have been sold out, 200 tickets remain available for Georgia Tech students with free admission at the door on a first-come, first-served basis. A valid BuzzCard must be displayed in order for students to receive a ticket to the match.

Storylines

  • Senior outside hitter Julia Bergmann received her second consecutive ACC Player of the Week recognition this week, marking her fourth of the season to tie her career best and lead the league. Prior to Bergmann a season ago, no one in the ACC had matched the tally since 2015.
  • The honor follows her second career GameChanger Division I National Player of the Week selection from the AVCA a week ago, which made her the first Yellow Jacket in program history to garner two career recognitions.
  • En route to her weekly honor, the highly touted Jacket bested her season high combined kill output through two matches by nearly double digits over the weekend as she piled up 54 kills for a gaudy six kills per set. In addition, Bergmann tallied 21 digs, six aces and six blocks.
  • Bergmann made waves in Tech’s comeback over Florida State specifically, unleashing a career best and program record tying 38 kills in the match to become the first Yellow Jacket ever with four individual matches of 30 or more kills.
  • In doing so, the explosive attacker also moved to seventh in Tech history in career kills with 1,630 to date.
