UPLAND, Ind. – The No. 13 Taylor volleyball team (18-4, 7-1 CL) took to the court Wednesday evening against Goshen (2-20, 0-8 CL) and defeated the Maple Leafs in three sets, improving to 9-0 inside Odle Arena thus far in 2022.
While Goshen hung tight for most of the match, Taylor’s dynamic offense proved too much, as the Trojans pounded nearly twice as many kills as the Maple Leafs.
Six different Trojans posted five or more kills, spearheaded by outside hitters, Anna Frey and Arlanda Faulkner, who recorded 13 and 10 kills apiece. After Wednesday’s 10-kill performance, Faulkner sits just 20 kills away from the 1,000-career mark.
Meanwhile, mid-hitters, Grace Ieremia and Jaylynn Dunsmore, each finished with eight kills apiece, and setter, Kacy Bragg, added seven of her own.
Bragg also dished out 43 assists throughout the match in tandem with10 digs and, thus, missed out on a triple-double by just three kills. By night’s end, Bragg moved into the nation’s top-five in assists-per-set, bumping her season average up to 10.93.
On the defensive end of the game, freshman libero, McKaylah Flagle, pocketed double-digit digs for the 11th-consecutive match, leading the Trojans with 13, while Chelsea Hurt led the way up front with six total blocks.
No. 13 Taylor (18-4, 7-1 CL) has now won nine of its last 10 matches, seven via the sweep, and will look to carry that momentum into Friday’s matchup with No. 17 Marian (15-1, 7-1 CL), which is set to commence inside Odle at 7:00 pm.
