No. 13 USC Men’s Volleyball Falls to No. 9 Stanford in Four

LOS ANGELES – The 13th-ranked USC men’s volleyball team (6-7, 0-3 MPSF) lost to No. 9 Stanford (9-5, 2-1) in four sets (25-22, 24-26, 25-16, 25-20) at Galen Center on Friday, Feb. 24.
 
KEY PLAYERS

  • Sr. OPP Simon Gallas led the Trojans with a season-high 24.0 points and 21 kills with .471 hitting (5e, 34att). He also added two blocks, two service aces, and had six digs.
  • Fr. OH Dillon Klein recorded his 10th match in double-digit kills and his 11th in double-digit points (14.5) with 13 kills to go with eight digs, a block, and a service ace.
  • Jr. S Nate Tennant put up 39 assists and was one dig shy of a double-double with nine to go with two blocks and two kills.
  • Sr. LIB George Dyer put up his second match in double-digit digs and finished with 10 and three assists.
  • For the Cardinal, Theo Snoey led with 17 kills and two of Stanford’s six aces. Kevin Lamp added 13 kills and had two aces with two blocks. Will Rottman tallied 11 kills. Nathan Lietzke put up 43 assists with five digs.

HOW IT HAPPENED

  • The score was tied nine times in the opening set, but Stanford never trailed en route to a 25-22 win. Gallas and Lucas Frassrand each had four kills in the set as the Trojans hit .440, but the Cardinal hit .576 as Rottman put up six kills. Snoey and Lamp had five kills apiece to help Stanford score on 20 kills in the first frame.
