No. 2 USC Beach Volleyball Moves to 10-0 on Wins Over No. 7 Stanford, Cal Poly

LOS ANGELES – The second-ranked USC beach volleyball team (10-0) put together back-to-back 5-0 wins over No. 7 Stanford (10-5) and Cal Poly (2-11) to conclude the Battle for Los Angeles at Merle Norman Stadium on Sunday, March 12.
 
The Women of Troy extended their win streak to 46 consecutive duals dating back to March 5, 2022. The Trojans also improved to 82-11 all-time at Merle Norman Stadium and have won 17 straight home duals. USC goes to 13-0 all-time against Stanford and to 8-0 in all-time meetings with the Mustangs.
 
Twin seniors Audrey Nourse and Nicole Nourse picked up two more wins to go 4-0 on the weekend and reach 70 all-time wins as a pair. Against the Cardinal, the Nourses delivered the clinching point from the No. 3 position with a 17-21, 21-17, 15-8 win over Maya Harvey and Taylor Wilson. They preserved a clean sweep for the Trojans on their 21-13, 29-27 win over Cal Poly’s Brooke Golik and Delaney Peranich.
 
Freshman Delaney Karl and graduate Ashlyn Rasnick-Pope went three sets to get an 18-21, 21-15, 15-7 win over Stanford’s Daria Gusarova and Emmy Sharp; and then took out Addie Bounds and Kalee Graf of Cal Poly, 21-7, 21-17 to improve to 5-2 as a pair this season.
 
At the No. 4 position, junior Olivia Bakos and freshman Gabby Walker collected their fifth win of the season with back-to-back straight-set wins first over Kelly Belardi and Ashley Vincent of Stanford and then over Cal Poly’s duo of Julia Soeller and Emma Zuffelato.
 
Juniors Megan Kraft and Delaynie Maple improved to 9-0 on the season (10-0 lifetime) with a 21-16, 21-17 win over Stanford’s Charlie Ekstrom and Kate Reilly. Graduate Madison Shields and freshman Madison White went three sets to take down the Cardinal’s Xolani Hodel and Maddi Kriz, 17-21, 21-13, 15-13. The two pairs switched partners against Cal Poly. Maple-White got a 21-13, 21-18 win over Jayelin Lombard and Piper Naess. Kraft-Shields took the top court and took a 21-6, 21-16 win over Piper Ferch and Izzy Martinez.
 
In a non-scoring match against Stanford, freshmen Bailey Showalter and Mabyn Thomas defeated Phoenix Clarke and Serena Turner, 21-11, 21-11. And in an exhibition against Cal Poly, junior Caitlin Cummings and sophomore Tatiana Rusich got a 21-14, 21-9 win…
