KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The Lewis University women’s volleyball team was unable to come away with the victory Friday (Oct. 21) as the Flyers dropped their match in straight sets to Rockhurst. The Hawks won 26-24, 25-18, 25-17.

SET BREAKDOWN
FIRST SET: Rockhurst 26, Lewis 24
- Rockhurst jumped out to an early 10-0 advantage in the first set.
- Lewis looked to bounce back and scored four in a row capped off by a kill by Ray.
- Later in the set, the Flyers outscored the Hawks 9-2 to tie up at 13-all.
- Both teams went back-and-forth the next few points before Lewis went up 22-20 but Rockhurst had the upper hand.
- The Flyers were at set point at 24-23 but the Hawks scored three straight to win the opening set 26-24.
SECOND SET: Rockhurst 25, Lewis 18
- Schlechte recorded a kill to make it 6-5 Rockhurst then the Hawks rallied for three straight.
- Juliana Van Loo (Burbank, Calif./John Burroughs) and Ray recorded back-to-back kills to try to get the Flyers back in the set.
- The Hawks were at set point at 24-15 but Lewis tried to fight back and scored three points in a row but Rockhurst was able to secure the second set.
THIRD SET: Rockhurst 25, Lewis 17
- Both teams each scored three points to start the third set to make it 3-all.
- Rockhurst was ahead 8-6 then scored nine unanswered to go up 17-6 midway through the third set.
- Lewis tried to crawl their way back into the match after a service ace by Stefanski.
- The Hawks won the third set 25-17 and won the match 3-0.
Final Score: Rockhurst 3, Lewis 0
