OXFORD, Miss. – The No. 25 ranked University of Missouri volleyball team (19-6, 10-3 SEC) registered a five-set comeback win (25-19, 21-25, 16-25, 25-16, 15-11) over Ole Miss (16-10, 6-8 SEC) Friday evening at the Gillom Athletic Performance Center.
With the victory, Missouri has now registered double-digit SEC wins for the first time since 2020 (15 SEC wins). Mizzou is now fourth in the SEC standings behind Florida (11-3), Texas (11-3) and Kentucky (12-2).
Four Tigers notched double-doubles in the victory paced by Mychael Vernon’s 18 kills and 12 digs with two blocks and an ace. Friday marked the second time in 2024, MU had four double-double performances, last achieving the feat against Mississippi State (Oct. 20).
Jordan Iliff finished with 16 kills and 14 digs to go with three blocks and a career-high three assists. It marked the 12th double-double of the campaign for Iliff and Vernon.
Setters Marina Crownover and Sierra Dudley compiled the final two double-double outings Friday. Crownover tallied 22 assists and 13 digs in the start while Dudley added 18 assists and 10 digs. Crownover now has nine double-doubles this season while it was the second of the year for Dudley, a 2023 SEC All-Freshman selection.
Janet deMarrais was the third Tiger attacker in double-digits behind Vernon and Iliff, notching 14 kills and two blocks.
Libero Maya Sands led six MU student-athletes in double-digits defensively, grabbing 24 digs and six assists.
