LOUISVILLE, Ky. — The No. 4-ranked University of Louisville volleyball team continues ACC play as they host Notre Dame on Wednesday at 8 p.m. ET and Duke on Friday at 7 p.m. back at L&N Arena.
The Notre Dame match will be played at the KFC Yum! Center and be televised on ESPNU with Katie George and Eric Frede on the call.
About the Cards
The Cardinals moved to 18-2 on the season and 9-1 in ACC play after falling to No. 7-ranked Pitt on Sunday in a tough five-set match on Sunday afternoon. The 15-25, 13-25, 27-25, 25-20, 12-15 loss snapped Louisville’s streak of ACC wins at 37. UofL swept Virginia on Friday night 25-18, 25-15, 25-22. Claire Chaussee finished the weekend with 25 kills, one ace, three blocks, and 19 digs. Aiko Jones recorded 18 kills, seven aces, eight blocks, and 11 digs. Amaya Tillman led the team in blocks with seven against Virginia and 10 against Pitt. Libero Elena Scott had nine digs against Virginia and 14 against Pitt, while Raquel Lazaro recorded 76 assists, 11 blocks, and 17 digs on the weekend.
About the Irish
Notre Dame fell in sweeps to No. 7-ranked Pittsburgh 25-10, 25-15, and 25-18 last Friday and Virginia 27-25, 25-19, and 25-19 on Sunday afternoon to move to 9-11 on the season and 4-6 in ACC play. The Irish were led by 6-3 middle blocker Kaylyn Winkler who recorded four kills and three blocks against Pitt and seven kills and one block against Miami. Freshman Lucy Trump totaled 14 kills on the weekend and has 135 kills on the season with 14 aces, 93 digs, and 21 blocks. Phyona Schrader, a 6-0 sophomore setter, notched 18 assists and seven digs on Friday and 25 assists and 11 digs on Sunday. Schrader leads the team with 584 assists on the season, and has 101 kills, 15 aces, 225 digs, and 35 blocks.
About the Blue Devils
Duke split the weekend with two four-setters, beating NC State 25-23, 22-25, 25-17, and 25-18 last Wednesday and falling to North Carolina 23-25, 25-18, 20-25, and 19-25 on Sunday. The Blue Devils moved to 12-9 on the season and 3-7 in the ACC. Duke was led by senior outside hitter Gracie Johnson who notched 22 kills, two aces, four blocks, and seven digs against NC State and 16 kills, three aces, two blocks, and eight digs against UNC.
