LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Outside hitter Claire Chaussee had a career-high 27 kills and her fourth double-double of the season adding 10 digs to lead the No. 5 University of Louisville volleyball team to a comeback win over No. 13 Georgia Tech after dropping the first two sets.
Louisville improves to 23-2 and 14-1 in ACC play with the 17-25, 17-25, 25-14, 25-19, 15-11 win. The Cards hit .284 on the match with two aces and 7 blocks. Aiko Jones added 12 kills, an ace and a block with Amaya Tillman pitching in 11 kills, and three blocks. Libero Elena Scott had 25 digs to tie her career high. Setter Raquel Lazaro had 57 assists, nine digs and two blocks.
Georgia Tech moves to 18-6 and 11-4 in the ACC. Tech hit .196 for the match with two aces and 10 blocks. The Yellowjackets were led by Julia Bergmann’s 25 kills and five blocks. Tamara Otene had 10 kills and two blocks.
Louisville heads to Chapel Hill for a matchup with North Carolina on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Set 1
Georgia Tech gained traction early in the first set and Dani Busboom Kelly called timeout trailing 9-5 and then again at 17-12 but the Cardinals could not grab the momentum at any point. The Jackets outscored the Cards 6-2 down the stretch en route to the 25-17 win. The Cardinals hit .222 with two blocks.
Set 2
The Cardinals never had the lead in the second set and were trailing 13-8 when they called their first timeout. UofL cut the lead to three at 17-14 on solo block by Nena Mbonu but could get no closer. The Jackets ran off the last five consecutive points for the 25-17…
