No. 5 Louisville Volleyball Takes Down Tar Heels 3-1

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – A career-high performance by Claire Chaussee, who had 24 kills and eight digs, led the No. 5-ranked University of Louisville volleyball team to a 3-1 win over North Carolina Sunday afternoon in ACC volleyball action at L&N Federal Credit Union Arena.
 
Following the 17-25, 25-17, 25-20, and 25-23 win, UofL moved to 13-1 in ACC Play and 22-2 overall. Phekran Kong led the team with eight blocks, while Amaya Tillman recorded six kills, five digs, and four blocks. Aiko Jones, who notched her 1,000th career kill in the third set, had eight kills, two aces, five digs, and six blocks. Anna DeBeer and libero Elena Scott both recorded double-digit digs with 10 and 12, respectively.  Louisville hit .217 as a team with five aces and 12 blocks.
 
North Carolina moves to 15-10 and 7-7 in ACC play. The Tar Heels were led by Mabrey Shaffmaster, who had 16 kills, two aces, seven digs, and one block. Charley Niego had 13 kills, 14 digs, and two blocks. The Heels hit .155 with six aces and 17 service errors.
 
The Cardinals hit the road next weekend for two matches with No. 10-ranked Georgia Tech on Nov. 11 on Friday afternoon before heading to face North Carolina on Sunday afternoon.
