COLUMBUS, Ohio – The Ohio State women’s volleyball team (3-3) travels to Pittsburgh to face No. 12 Pitt and Tennessee this weekend in the final matches of the non-conference schedule.
- Ohio State moved up to fifth in this week’s AVCA poll, following two more top-10 wins last weekend in Atlanta.
- Ohio State beat top-10 teams in three-consecutive matches for the first time in program history, defeating No. 3 Louisville and No. 5 Georgia Tech on the road and No. 10 BYU at a neutral site.
- Emily Londot was named Big Ten Co-Player of the Week for the second-straight week, while Mac Podraza was named Big Ten Setter of the Week.
- Londot was named MVP of the Georgia Tech Classic, with Gabby Gonzales and Jenaisya Moore joining her on the all-tournament team.
- Tennessee enters the weekend with a 6-4 record after getting swept in a mid-week matchup against No. 21 Western Kentucky. After beginning the season 2-3, including a loss to Purdue, the Lady Vols rattled off four-consecutive sweeps against NC State, New Hampshire, Norfolk State and The Citadel.
- Morgahn Fingall leads the Tennessee offense, averaging 4.39 kills per set through the first 10 matches of the season, while setter Natalie Hayward continues to average more than 10 assists per set. Paola Laborda leads the defense with 3.81 digs per set. Fingall was named AVCA Player of the Week.
- Ohio State leads 9-1 in the all-time series against Tennessee. The two teams most recently met in the 2021 NCAA Tournament when the Buckeyes earned a win in four sets (25-18, 14-25, 25-21, 25-21) in the second round match, hosted in Covelli.
- Ohio State won the first eight meetings in the series before the Lady Volunteers earned their victory in 2018 at the Flyer Invitational in Dayton.
- Pittsburgh holds a 7-2 record so far this season, including an even 1-1 when facing a ranked opponent. After falling in the season opener to then-No. 25 San Diego, Pitt bounced back to earn seven-straight wins before losing to Towson to conclude the Panther Challenge last weekend.
- Pitt boasts a balanced attack with three players averaging more than 2.5 kills per set, while two setters split the setting duties. The Panthers are also deep on the defensive side with three players averaging more than 2.0 digs per set.
